PM to inaugurate Kerala Golden Jublilee celebrations

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will launch several development projects including a new terminal for the International Airport here, in connection with the year-long Golden Jubilee celebration of Kerala formation day on November 1.

Briefing newspersons here after a meeting of the State Cabinet, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said the Prime Minister would lay the foundation stones for the second terminal of the International Airport here and Air India hanger unit.

Dr Singh, would also lay the foundation stone for the sponge factory to be set up by the Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd at Chavara in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

At 1700 hrs, the Prime Minister would inaugurate the year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the State at a function to be organised at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium here.

Defence Minister A K Antony and Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi would also be invited for the function.

Mr Achuthanandan said the Cabinet also decided to introduce two lotteries for mobilising fund for the overall development of sports.
