PM lays foundation stone for four lane NH

Mahbubnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today laid the foundation stone for four-laning of the Nagpur-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Bangalore section, as part of the four-laning work of the North-South Corridor taken up under the National Highway Development Project (NHDP), near Kothakota here today.

The stretch Nagpur-Hyderabad section and Hyderabad-Bangalore section of the National Highway-7 comprising 310 km and 463 km, respectively, out of a total length of 4000 km of the North-South Corridor, will be laid at a cost of Rs 1738 crore.

The North-South Corridor would connect Srinagar, in the snowclad mountains of Kashmir, with the last point on the Indian soil of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, passing through important cities like Delhi, Jhansi, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Works worth Rs 5000 crores will be taken up under the North-South corridor project in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy and several Union and State ministers were also present at the function.
