Paddy arrival picks up in Punjab Mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 26 (UNI) Over 101 Lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the Punjab mandis so far as against about 94.89 lakh metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Punjab Food and Supplies Minister S Lal Singh today said that out of the total arrival, over 22,60,307 tonnes of Paddy was procured by Pungrain, 18,08,065 tonnes by Markfed, 22,35,546 tonnes by Punsup, 9,78,997 tonnes by PSWC, 11,15,837 tonnes by PAIC, 2,14,725 tonnes by FCI and 14,87,658 tonnes by the Millers in the state till yesterday.

He also said that Paddy procured yesterday by Pungrain was 9,1442 tonnes, Markfed 60,161 tonnes, Punsup 76,537 tonnes, PSWC 28,604 tonnes, PAIC 35,918 tonnes, FCI 1,926 tonnes and by Millers 32083 tonnes.

District Sangrur was leading in the state in paddy arrival with 15,20,232 tonnes followed by Ludhiana district with 11,80,836 tonnes.

He further said that 100 Lakh metric tonnes of Grade 'A' variety of Paddy arrived in various mandis of the state while common variety of Paddy that arrived in mandis was 96,841 tonnes.
