New Delhi, Oct 26: In his first official meeting with a Foreign dignitary since taking over, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today met Namibian Foreign Minister Marco Hausiku and discussed bilateral relations and the international situation.
Mr Pranab Mukherjee who took over as the External Affairs Minister yesterday, received felicitations from US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Bhutan King Jigme Singye Wangchuk and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Morshed Khan who promised cooperation in strengthening relations with their respective countries.
Sources said the Namibian Minister also felicitated Mr Mukherjee on assuming the office.
The two Ministers also discussed ways to strengthen Indo-African relations, the sources said.
The Namibian Foreign Minister who will stay here till October 30, will meet Minister for Mines Dasari Narayana Rao tomorrow morning.
Mr Mukherjee will also meet Mr Rodolphe Adada, Foreign Minister of Congo, tomorrow.
Mr Adada is here on a week-long visit till October 29.
The visits by the Foreign Ministers of Namibia and Congo are part of India's growing engagements with Africa.
