Maruti quarter 2 net up 39.9 pc at Rs 367.4 cr

New Delhi, Oct 26: Leading car maker Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) today registered a jump of 39.89 per cent in net profit for the second quarter (July-September) at Rs 367.44 crore over Rs 262.7 crore during the same quarter last year.

The total income of the company stood at Rs 3,540.89 crore (Net of Excise) during Q2FY07, a growth of 12.52 per cent over the same period last year.

During the first half of the current fiscal, MUL posted a net profit of Rs 737.01 crore, up 50.68 per cent over April-September 2005, a company statement said here.

Total Income (Net of Excise) during April-September 2006 stood at Rs 6,809.66 crore, a rise of 16 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Maruti's sales, including the popular Zen, Alto and Swift models, rose 16.2 per cent to 157,683 units in the July-September quarter, including 8,165 units of exports.

During the first half of the FY, the company's sales grew by 18 per cent in the domestic car market. In the same period, the A1 and A2 car segment, showed a higher growth of 19 per cent.
