Manipur tourism festival begins from November 6

Imphal, Oct 26: Manipur government will organise a four-day Tourism festival from November 6 to 9 in Imphal in association with state Tourism department, Manipur Mountaineeting and Trekking Association and other private tour operators.

Addressing mediapersons, Director Tourism A Ibomcha today said the festival would be organised at Imphal with focus on arts, culture, flora and fauna, handicrafts, handloom, indigenous sports and eco-tourism potential of the state.

Conducted tours of major tourist spots with proper guides will be organised.

The aim was to showcase Manipur as one of the favourite tourist destinations and generate a feeling of communal harmony, the Director said.

Meanwhile, India's first tourism adventure park undertaken by Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association at Lamdan was also inaugurated today.

Jet airways has announced a major discount for all flights to Manipur for this period.

Over 200 varieties of orchid, rich cultural heritages of Manipur, cuisine, traditional sports, white water rafting, para-sailing, rock climbing, hiking and caving expedition are the majot attraction of the festival.

Polo and other indigenous sports will also be displayed, the Director said. Manipur being the birth place of polo, special focus would be given on it.
