Mah govt to follow Bombay HC directions

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Rural development secretary Dr Jayraj Phatak today said that that the government will follow the directives issued by Bombay High court regarding the caste certificates during the local bodies elections.

The Bombay High Court has recently directed the Caste Scrutiny Committee to take action on the applications within four weeks who are standing in local body elections.

Talking to reporters, Dr Phatak said nearly five thousand applications from both SC and ST category are pending for the caste certificates.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice H S Bedi and Justice V M Kanade was hearing a petition filed by Ajij Chandsab Shaikh, Kashinath Divate, Satlingappa Mhetre and Chandrashekhar Gaddi.
