Loktantrik Cong mayoral candidates for cleaner drains
Lucknow, Oct 26 (UNI) The Akhil Bharatiya Loktantrik Party (ABLP) today claimed if its candidate won the coming mayoral polls, the party would ensure a better drainage system and congestion free roads here.
State minister and ABLP president Hari Shanker Tiwari said here his party would work towards cleaning the drainage syatem -- a work virtually ignored by successive mayors during their terms.
He claimed while roads were being built, the drainage system was being ignored, resulting in overflowing 'nullahs' during monsoon.
''The city has enormous water resources at its disposal to cater to the ever-growing needs of potable water.
But the potential canals and river Gomti were not being utilised to help the citizens get drinking water,'' alleged party's mayoral candidate Badrinath Agnihotri.
In a bid to clean up river Gomti, Agnihotri promised developing a landscape on river banks to enable people get a new picnic spot.
''This will able help authorities maintain cleanliness of the river,'' he added.
Earlier in the day, the party organised a demonstration opposite the Vidhan Bhawan to highlight the failures of successive mayors of Lucknow.
