Set up HC bench in capital: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 26: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the demand for setting up of a Bench of the Kerala High Court in the state capital was under active consideration of the government.
Replying to a Calling Attention by Mr K Sudhakaran of the Congress, the Chief Minister pointed out that Thiruvananthapuram was the only state capital in the country where there was no High Court Bench.
Due to this, the State Government was incurring additional financial burden as officials have to travel to Kochi to appear for hearings.
He said the state government had already brought the issue to the notice of the High Court Chief Justice and the Union Law Minister.
However, the demand for HC Bench in north Kerala was not under the consideration of the government.
