Insurance coverage for SHGs in Mizoram
Aizawl, Oct 26 (UNI) The Mizoram government is planning to start health insurance schemes for Self Help Groups (SHGs).
National Insurance Corporation Manager Shema said, ''State Rural Development department is making plans to insure the SHG members in the state under the Swasta Bima Policy''.
This policy had been started from 2005 when the Union Government offered medical insurance policies for people living below poverty line, she added.
National Insurance Company has been given the charge of the Eastern India to offer health insurance coverage to the registered SHGs across the state, she said.
As per the guidelines, the Union Government would give the coverage at a subsidised rate.
The insured person would pay only Rs 160 while the actual premium for a year is Rs 520. The insured person could claim up to Rs 10,000 every year.
The Insurance Regulatory Development Authority has made the scheme for the Self Help Groups and people living below poverty line.
