Chennai, Oct 26: The BJP today said India had a role to play in helping the Sri Lanka government to find an amicable solution to the ethnic crisis but it must not supply any arms to the country as they could be misused.

Talking to mediapersons here, party's Tamil Nadu unit President L Ganesan today said the BJP was not saying that India must intervene in the ongoing conflict, but it firmly believed that the Centre had a role to play.

He said the BJP welcomed the ongoing efforts to bring back peace en the region, with the Lankan government and the LTTE coming to the negotiating table again.

''However in the past the Sri Lankan government has not implemented the agreements reached at the peace talks'', the former national secretary of the party alleged.

Expressing concern over alleged improper treatment of Tamil refugees from the neighbouring country coming to Tamil Nadu , Mr Ganesan said a team led by the party's senior leaders H Raja, S Thirunavukkarasar and former state unit President Pon Radhakrishnan, would visit the Mandapam camp soon to take stock of the situation.
