Land distribution on Indira's birth anniversary
Hyderabad, Oct 26: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to distribute one lakh acre to the poor on November 19, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Talking to the press here, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said the government initially wanted to distribute the land on November one to mark the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day.
Later, they thought it fit to do it on November 19 Ms Gandhi was remembered by the people of the state as protector of the poor and the oppressed.
The Revenue Minister said that in the fourth round, forest land would be distributed to the poor. The government had also been registering some land in the name of the women for their empowerment. On reports of land grabbing by an individual in Ranga Reddy District, the Minister said he was yet to verify the facts.
