IA, Delhi enter Super League in National Hockey

Jalandhar, Oct 26 (UNI) Delhi thrashed Jharkhand 9-1 to reach the Super League stage of the Dainik Bhaskar-Tracer 62nd Senior National Hockey Championship along with Indian Airlines, who beat Uttar Pradesh 7-1, here today.

Like the star studded Indian Airlines, today's knockout match for Delhi also proved to be an easy win for Jharkhand as they led 3-1 at half time.

Delhi, who opened their account in the 11th minute through a penalty corner, maintained pressure over Jharkhand and played a cool game to gradually increase the tally.

The main scorers for Delhi were Damandeep Singh, skipper Bikash Toppo and Jitender Saroha, who scored two goals each.

The only goal scored for Jharkhand was by Arvind Kumar in the 21st minute.

The second half was completely dominated by the Delhi squad.

In an earlier match, Indian Airlines with internationals in their ranks, thrashed Uttar Pradesh 7-1 to enter the Super League stage.

IA's skipper Samir Dad and Rajnish Mishra scored two goals each as both the teams were tied 1-1 at half time.
