Huge cache of explosives seized in MP
Bhopal, Oct 26 (UNI) A huge cache of explosives and naxal literature have been seized by the police after a fierce and lengthy encounter in Balaghat district during which the rebels used villagers as shields.
''An intense anti-extremist campaign is underway for checking ultra activity that spurts in the bamboo-harvesting season. The October 24 encounter took place in a dense forest near Palagondi, Mate and Kuwagondi villages while the insurgents were instigating villagers against government policies,'' Inspector-General (Balaghat Range) Anvesh Mangalam said today.
The officer said that the naxals were told to surrender but managed to flee taking advantage of jungle cover.
''Circuits for improvised explosive devices, detonators, detonator caps, a self-loading rifle, cells, lead and cartridges for 12-bore guns were seized,'' he added.
