Hailstorm destroys crops in Phek district

Kohima, Oct 26: A heavy shower of hailstorm, which lashed Pfutsero sub-division of Phek district on Tuesday, has completely destroyed the standing paddy crops.

According to a delayed report sent by Mesewe Kapfo, Chairman of Pfutseromi Village Council said the heavy hailstorm lashed the area around noon on October 24 last, when the people were busy in harvesting their crops.

The standing paddy crops of Pfutseromi and Lekromi villages were comptetely destroyed, leaving the people of the area in a hopeless situation.

The village Council appealed to the state government, particularly the Administrative officials and the Department concerned to immediately provide natural calamity relief to the affected villagers.
