Govt to make Khadi or Handloom uniform compulsory in schools
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 26 : The Kerala Government today decided to make Khadi or Handloom uniform compulsory for one day in a week in all schools in the State.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of Education Minister M A Baby and Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem, a release said here.
The Government would also insist teachers and other staff members in schools to wear khadi or handloom clothes once in every week.
Pointing out that this was the first time in the country, introducing handloom or khadi uniforms in schools, Mr Kareem said the move would open new markets to Khadi and Handloom.
The Minister suggested for the creation of more job opportunities and increase in production to meet the demand, the release added.
