Government to sign MoU with CII
New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The government will sign an agreement with top industry chamber CII next month for achieving technology alliance with the rest of the world.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Science and Technology Ministry and the Confederation of Indian Industry during the 12th Technology Summit and Technology Platform here on November 6-7.
ASEAN is the partner this year for the technology summit which had Canada as the partner last year.
Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal said ASEAN and its partners would provide a 3.2-billion dollar market, more than half of the world market, which is also phenomenal for technology to flourish.
''Barriers are broken in economic and other sectors by instruments such as multilateral negotiations,'' Mr Sibal said.
He said India would expect only those investments from abroad which are solution-oriented adding all proposals related to science and technology investments in India would henceforth be considered on the basis of value to the country.
The summit deals with commonalities of issue between India and ASEAN such as agriculture being the base of the country, large poor population, dependence on food and marine technology, Information and communication technology, biotechnology, advanced materials and welding technology, space science and technology, the minister said.
The objective of the summit is to facilitate technology partnerships between Indian and overseas industry, discussing and showcasing stellar examples of technological leadership by leading industries and interface between R&D institutions, industry and government, said Y P Kumar, head of international cooperation in Department of Science and Technology.
The summit will witness participation of over 400 representatives, over 100 from ASEAN countries and South Korea, and will cater to bring science and technology to a higher level of national priorities, CII officials said.
