Government invites suggestion for alternative sources of energy

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas has invited suggestions on 'Strategy for Development of Alternative Sources of Oil and Gas'.

According to an official release issued here today, the Standing committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas set up a committee under the Chairmanship of N Janardhan Reddy to go into this matter.

The subject involves issues relating to development of different alternative energy sources like Ethanol-blended petrol, bio-diesel, Jatropha plantation, Coal Bed Methane, underground Coal Gasification, Gas Hydrates and Hydrogen fuel.

Keeping in view the significance of the subject, the Committee have decided to invite written memoranda containing views, suggestions, comments from interested individuals, associations, experts, professional, organisations, institutions etc.

On the subject, especially on ethanol and bio-diesel production Jatropha plantation matters relating thereto.

The memoranda which might be submitted would form part of the records of the Committee and would be treated as strictly confidential and would not be circulated to anyone, as such an act would constitute a breach of privilege of the Committee.

Those who are desirous of giving oral evidence before the Committee besides sending memoranda are requested to intimate the same to the Lok Sabha Secretariat for consideration of the Committee.

The decision of the Committee to invite the persons for appearing before the Committee shall be final.
