Exhibition presenting 'New look' of Taiwan opens in capital

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) It's an endeavour to introduce to the Indian people the 'New look' of Taiwan after years of remarkable development and contribute to the cultural exchange between the two countries.

'Enchanting Taiwan', an exhibition of photographs presenting different facets of Taiwan, began in the capital last evening with the objective of providing Indians with a new window into culture in the South East Asian country.

The exhibition, showcasing the scenic beauty, cultural splendour and modernisation of Taiwan, was inaugurated here by Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra.

Organised by Taiwan's central news agency in association with the Taipei Economic and cultural center in New Delhi, 'Enchanting Taiwan' is an attempt to present to the Indian people an economically robust Taiwan where old and new, temples and nightclubs, aborigines and mini-skirts co-exist and assimilate effortlessly.

Speaking on the occasion, CNA president Liu Chih Tsung said the exhibition was an extension of the CNA-organised series of activities to boost bilateral cultural and information exchanges between India and Taiwan.

''We believe that a new "IT" or "India plus Taiwan" strategy that integrates India's brilliant capability in software design with Taiwan's cutting edge hardware R and D capacity will be conducive to upgrading the two countries' global competitiveness and bringing about a wealth of win-win business opportunities,''he said.

In his address, representative of the TECC Andrew J C Kao expressed the hope that the exhibition would provide "our friends" in India with a new window into Taiwan.

''I hope you will take home a lasting impression of the 'Enchanting Taiwan',''he said.
