DuPont forays in building solutions business

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) DuPont India, the wholly owned subsidiary of US-based 27 billion dollar E I du Pont de Nemours and Company and a science-based products and services company, today announced its foray into the building solutions and products business.

With the new initiative 'DuPontT Building InnovationsT', the company seeks to offer made-for-India technological solutions to the country's construction industry and focus on local market applications.

''Following our global strategy of 'Go where the growth is' and 'Putting Science to work' by using 'Power of One DuPont', we have identified the building and construction segment in India as a key sector that will drive our company's strategic growth in this country,'' DuPont India Executive Director Jagdish Kumar said at Interbuild India 2006 conference and exhibition.

The company has launched three products as per the plan, which it claims are suited to Indian construction methods and weather conditions.

The products include DuPontT Zemdrain formliners, which are used in civil engineering works like bridges, tunnels, dams, new jersey elements, water tanks or locks and waste water treatment plants. They address issues like blowholes, moisture ingress, scaling, chloride ingress, carbonation, micro-organisms growth and waste water chemical attack.

DuPontT Tyvek Weatherization Systems comprising a moisture-resistant insulation blanket and vapour breathable membranes provide strength, tear and puncture resistance, light weight, resistance to air, water, solvents and chemicals, vapour permeability, UV resistance and radiant barrier.

It is approved by the USFDA and is fully recyclable.

The third product DuPontT Xavan Pondliner is for waterproofing of water-retaining structures. It is a patented composite material used to line ponds, swimming pools, canals and other artificial water bodies for its exceptional water tightness.

Two other products, already existing in the market, are DuPontT Corian Surface solutions, offering benefits of creative shapes, hygiene and aesthetics in a solid surface DuPont Glass Laminating Systems which are beleived to increase safety, reduce noise, save energy, add privacy, protect property or expand design and engineering options.

The company has more products that, with suitable modifications, will address major issues faced by builders in India.
