Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide

Kozhikode, Oct 26 (UNI) A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide at Wayanad district near here today.

Police said the body of Thumbil Sukumaran (39) who left his residence last night, was found in a nearby tank.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sukumaran jumped into the tank after consuming poision, police added.

Family sources said Sukumaran took the extreme step following his failure to repay an agricultural loan worth Rs 60,000 taken in the name of his mother-in-law.
