Capt Singh inaugurates bridge over Ravi
Kathlor, Gurdaspur, Oct 26: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh inaugurated a high level bridge built at a cost of Rs 34 crore across ther Ravi river on the Dinanagar-Narot Jaimal Singh road.
With the completion of this high level bridge the distance between Gurdaspur and areas across the Ravi had been reduced from 70 Kms to 25 Kms. Earlier people had to first go to Kathua district in neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir and then reach Narot Jaimal Singh.
Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, Capt Singh said the state government was fully committed to provide best communication infrastructure to the people of the state and its concerted efforts had resulted in tremendous development and had given boost to the economic growth in the state.
Capt Singh also informed that due to the modern infrastructure being provided by the government, Punjab had become a preferred destination for the investors from outside the state as well as from abroad.
He said this bridge would certainly prove to be a milestone for the economic growth of this area by way of better connectivity with Gurdaspur and would provide better social, health and educational services to the residents of this backward area of the state.
Speaking on the occasion PWD (B&R) and Education Minister Partap Singh Bajwa said NABARD had given approval to this high level bridge in the year 2004. He said this 636 meters long bridge was constructed in a record period of one and a half years, much ahead of its scheduled time.
