Bahrain national visits India in search of fugitive Indians
Dubai, Oct 26 (UNI) A Bahraini national is visiting India to hunt down a gang of four fugitive Indians who allegedly looted his three shops of gold worth 1.3 million dollars during Ramadan last year.
Salah Al Ras Rumani says he decided to chase the fugitives, suspected to be in Chennai, after unfulfilled promises by Indian and local authorities that the gangsters would be caught with the help of Interpol.
The suspects had fled the country on October 11 last year, after allegedly stealing 40 kg of gold jewellery worth BD200,000 from his shops, news reports said.
He later found that another 60 kg of gold worth a further BD300,000, was unaccounted for.
Mr Rumani told Gulf Daily News that the Bahrain authorities had informed him that the Interpol had managed to locate the thieves, but no further action had been taken.
Despite warning that it would be dangerous for him to hunt the fugitive himself, he decided to undertake the mission to catch the fugitives to bring them to justice and sought police escort for his protection.
''I will hunt them down from village to village, even if it is the last day of life,'' Mr Rumani said, adding that he had never thought that one day, he would be pursuing someone whom he considered as his own brother as he worked for him for the past 22 years.
