Guwahati, Oct 26 (UNI) The Asom United Democratic Front (AUDF) today alleged that the ruling Congress might resort to unfair means in the coming byelections to Jamunamukh Assembly seat in Central Asom.

AUDF secretary general H R A Choudhuri and party candidate Sirajuddin Ajmol told newspersons here the party had intimated the Election Commission and the Centre about their apprehensions of ''rigging'' by the Congress.

'' We have requested the Election Commission and the Central government to prevent any rigging attempt by the ruling party during the byelections,'' he said.

Releasing the party's poll manifesto for the by-poll, Mr Ajmol exuded confidence to win the byelections by a huge margin and said the ruling Congress posed no challenge to him.

The AUDF candidate said he decided to contest the byelections as per the wishes of the people of Jamunamukh and promised overall development of the backward constituency in the poll manifesto.

The byelections was necessitated after AUDF president Badaruddin Ajmol decided to vacate the seat following his victory from two seats in the last Assembly polls.
