Vice Chief of Army Staff visits BEL, Chennai

Bangalore, Oct 25 (UNI) Vice Chief of Army Staff and Colonel Commandant of Bombay Sappers Lt Gen S Pattabhiraman visited the Chennai unit of premier defence public sector Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), yesterday.

Lt Gen Pattabhiraman appreciated the facilities and the support provided by BEL to the Indian Army. Various products developed and manufactured by the unit were demonstrated for the visiting dignitary. He discussed ongoing projects with BEL Chairman and Managing Director Y Gopala Rao, a company release here said today.

BEL's Chennai unit was set up in 1985 to develop and manufacture electronic systems for indigenous battle tanks. The unit's product range included stabiliser systems, fire control systems and communication systems for tanks.
