Kozhikode, Oct 25: Various issues relating to banking sector would be deliberated in detail at the 17th Kerala State Conference of the Union Bank of India Employees Federation (UBIEF) beginning here on October 27.
Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) All India President P Sadasivan Pillai will inaugurate the three-day meet, organising committee vice chairman and BEFI joint secretary A K Ramesh Babu told reporters here.
The main issues to be disscussed include the proposed move to introduce outsourcing in the sector, recruitment to fill up existing vacancies and pension as second option, they said, alleging no new appointments were made in the sector, which registered huge profits during the last several years, despite manifold increase in workload. A seminar on ''Globalisation of Finance and Banking Sector, would also be held as part of the meet, they said.
Kerala Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem would inaugurate the seminar at which Planning Board Vice Chairman Prabhat Patnaik would deliver the keynote address, they said.
Meanwhile, Mr Ramesh Babu said all the employees and officers in Kerala would join the All India bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions on October 27 to press their demands, including revision in the pension scheme.
