Temperatures down despite no rain and snow in HP
Shimla, Oct 25 (UNI) Day and night temperatures in Himachal Pradesh remained low despite clear sky over almost all mid and lower hills of the state during the last 24 hrs, the met office today said.
The minimum temperatures in the high altitude areas of the tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and Chamba district were below zero degrees with piercing coldwave conditions continuing in the state.
Almost all-high altitude areas were engulfed under a thick layer of fog and met office said early snowfall in higher areas and rains in the lower areas of the state had signaled the early onset of winters this year.
Kalpa in Kinnuar district recorded a minimum of 2.1 degrees, while the night temperature in Shimla climbed to 10.5 degree Celsius today as against nine degree recorded yesterday, the met office said.
Cold conditions continue to prevail in the state capital and other adjoining areas despite clear sky weather for the third day today and met office said it had recorded a day temperature of 20.2 and a night temperature of 10.5 degree Celsius.
Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperature of 28 and 27.1 degrees and minimum of 11.2 and 9.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
It also predicted clear sky in the state during the next 24 hrs.
