Srilanka A vs Orissa practice match ends in a draw

Cuttack, Oct 25 (UNI) The three-day practice match between Sri Lanka A and Orissa ended in a tame draw with the visitors having a valuable batting practice in the second innings at the Barbati Stadium here.

The Sri Lankan A batsmen scored 246 for 4 after opener Michael Vandori retired hitting a brilliant 86 runs and Chamara Silva added 72 runs.

The Sri Lanka A team's intention of having the match a batting practice was evident yesterday when they did not enforce follow on after taking a first innings lead of 172 runs.

Today, resuming their overnight score of 6 for no loss,the batsmen scored freely with opener Vandori registering a good 86 runs,Chamara Silva collecting 72 runs and Upul Chandana batting a modest 46 runs before the team declared 246 for 4.

With barely one session left the host Orissa scored 74 for two wickets at the close of the play.

Sri Lanka A will play their Duleep trophy match against West Zone from October 27 next.
