Bellary, Karnataka, Oct 25 (UNI) The Kannada University, Hampi, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hampi Site Development Authority (HDA) for taking up research work on various topics connected to the Vijayanagar empire and the glory of its erstwhile capital city Hampi.

Informing this to newspersons here yesterday, Deputy Commissioner Arvind Srivastav said research would mainly focus on intangible issues like the music and food habits of people under the empire and how to put them to use at present times. The cuisine popular during the Vijayanagar empire would be displayed during the coming Hampi Utsav, he added.

He said that to keep Hampi pollution-free, use of coracles to cross the river was advised, besides making efforts to run tongas (carts pulled by horses) and battery-operated vehicles to take tourists around the Hampi ruins.
