Mumbai, Oct 25: The MCOCA Court today directed the Anti-Terrorism Squad to get 7/11 blast accused Mohammed Sajid Ansari medically examined after his mother moved the court alleging torture in police custody.

MCOCA Judge Mridula Bhatkar also directed the Superintendent of state-run JJ Hospital to submit the medical examination report of Ansari in court tomorrow by 1200 hrs.

Ansari's lawyer Amin Solkar pleaded that while he is examined by a government doctor, his family doctor should also be allowed to be present during the examination to prevent any bias. The court has granted his request.

Mr Solkar had earlier told UNI that the accused himself had not complained of torture. However, on October 22, when he was brought to his Mira Road home for conducting a search, his mother Hasina Khatun noticed that his hands were swollen and there were black marks under his eyes.

While the court had asked Ansari to be produced in court today, there were no marks visible on his hands as alleged by his mother.

Also, the court held that it was not necessary that the black marks under the eyes were a consequence of torture in custody.

The same would be confirmed after the court received the medical examination report tomorrow.

Ansari was sent to police custody till tomorrow.
