Low pressure over southwest TN persists

Chennai, Oct 25 (UNI) The North East Monsoon has become more vigorous as the trough of low pressure over the southwest bay off Tamil Nadu persisted today.

Under its influence, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during next 48 hours.

Chennai and its suburbs experienced incessant rainfall since this morning, though the weather played hide and seek with a few spells of rains.

However, there were steady showers in the evening, leading to traffic jams in several places. Low lying areas were inundated due to rain water stagnation.

Reports here said several parts of Tamil Nadu, especially the southern districts of Tirunelveli received good rainfall and the water level in the dams had risen during the last couple of days.
