K'taka Govt trying to postpone Chamundeswari bypoll: Siddaramaiah

Addressing newspersons here, he claimed that the Government had written to the Election Commission (EC) to postpone the bypoll. He had also written to the EC last week, detailing the ground situation and stating that the best time to hold the poll would be before December as the harvesting season would start in December and January.
Mr Siddaramaiah complained that the Government was taking up various programmes just to woo the electorate. ''The people of the constituency will not fall for the gimmicks of the Government and they continue to support me.'' Welcoming the induction of Mandya MP M H Ambareesh into the Union Ministry, he thanked party President Sonia Gandhi for providing an opportunity to the Vokkaliga community.
