Gyanendrapati to be conferred with 'Pahal Samman'
Jabalpur, Oct 25 (UNI) Noted poet Gyanendrapati has been named for prestigious 'Pahal Samman', consisting Rs 11,000 and a momento, for this year in recognition of his contribution to poetry, for which he even quit his government job.
Litterateur and 'Pahal' magazine editor Gyan Ranjan said Gyanendrapati's collection of 20 poems were first published by poet Ashok Vajpayee in 'Pehchan' series. He emerged as a prominent poet during 1980s.
The award -- run on cooperative basis -- will be conferred on the poet at a programme in Varanasi on February 24, 2007.
Earlier recipients of the award include litterateurs such as Vijendra, Kamtanath, Vidyasagar Nautiyal, Shekhar Joshi, Swayamprakash, Manzoor Ahtesham, Kumar Vikal, Rajesh Joshi, Naresh Saxena, Manglesh Dabral, Chandrakant Devtale, Udayprakash, Alok Dhanwa and Sanjeev.
