Dengue death toll reaches 129, 7761 infected
New Delhi, Oct 25: Dengue has claimed 129 lives while 7761 people are infected with the viral disease in the country, the health ministry said here today.
In Delhi, NCR and other neighbouring states, a total of 2216 cases and 42 deaths have been reported of these, 1405 cases have been reported from the national capital alone.
Of 811 cases reported from the NCR and other states, 250 were from Haryana, 441 from Uttar Pradesh, 17 cases from Rajasthan and 103 from other states.
Apart from Delhi, the maximum number of 972 dengue cases have been reported from Rajasthan, followed by Kerala (834), Gujarat (456), West Bengal (702), Uttar Pradesh (513), Tamil Nadu (308), Punjab (586), Maharashtra (582), Haryana (315), Karnataka (92) and Andhra Pradesh (88).
As far as chikungunya is concerned, a total number of 1673 cases have been confirmed and no death reported from anywhere in the country, the ministry said.
Thirty-one cases of Chikungunya have been confirmed from Delhi and NCR region. The maximum number of confirmed chikungunya cases have been reported from Maharashtra (679) followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (170), Tamil Nadu (116), Madhya Pradesh (62), Kerala (38), Rajasthan (24) and Puducherry (9).
