BT appoints CS Rao as Managing Director for India

Bangalore, Oct 25: Telecom major BT today announced the appointment of Mr C S Rao as the Managing Director for its Indian operations, BT India.

In the new role, Mr Rao would be responsible for managing all BT's activities in India and its relationship with local licensee Bharti Airtel, through which telecom services were made available to those of its customers which have sites in India, according to a company release here.

Based in the company's India headquarters in New Delhi, he would report to BT Asia Pacific President Allen Ma, who was based in Hong Kong, the release added.

The appointment reiterated BT's commitment to build and grow its presence in the rapidly growing telecommunications market in India.

BT had recently announced strong growth for its Indian operations and predicted that it aimed to grow revenues from India over the next three years, the release said.

Prior to joining BT, Mr Rao, who had about 25 years of experience in the fields of telecom and datacom technology, had worked with Lucent India as its President and CEO, Tellabs India as Regional Director for SAARC countries and Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT).
