New Delhi, Oct 25: Bharti Teletech, telecom equipment manufacturing wing of Bharti Enterprise, will manufacture desktop variant of Fixed Wireless Phones (FWPs) at its Goa plant beginning January next year.

''Till now we were manufacturing Fixed Wireless Terminals (FWT) and were outsourcing the cordless variant of FWP from South Korea's Telian. Starting January we will manufacture the desktop variant of FWP at our Goa plant,'' company's Joint General Manager (Projects) Nafis Kazim told reporters here today.

He, however, did not reveal the investment that the company will make in the project. ''We are still considering the investment that the plant will require. All I can say is that we will fund the investment through internal accruals,'' he said.

Considering the fact that the plant would require additional machinery and an expansion in the production capacity, the company could be expected to make substantial investment in the project.

The company projects to manufacture 60,000 to 70,000 FWPs in the first year.

Bharti Teletech has one manufacturing plant in Ludhiana, Punjab, and two in Goa.

The company had earned Rs 1,000 crore in turnover in the first half of the year and expects to earn Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 in the second half, Mr Kazim said.
