3rd NE Cultural Fest to begin from Oct 27

Guwahati, Oct 25 (UNI) The Third North Eastern Cultural Festival-2006 will be held at Sonapur, near here from October 27 where cultural groups from all the NE states and Orissa will participate.

The North Eastern Socio-Cultural Organisation(NESCO) and two registered Non-Government Organisations, would organise the cultural fest to promote vivid and rich cultural heritage of the region.

Talking to newsmen here today, NESCO Chairpersons Ranee Narah said the main objective of the cultural festival is to strengthen the bond of fraternity, brotherhood and unity among the people of the region through cultural exchanges.

The four-day event would include various cultural extravangnza, she added.

Besides cultural performances, exhibitions, blood donation camps, seminars and food festivals would be the major attractions of the festival.

Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob and Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi are likely to attend the festival on October 30 among others, she informed.
