2 held for poisoning water tank

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Oct 25 (UNI) Police today arrested two persons for mixing poison in a common overhead water tank at Chonnasavadi, about 12 kms from here.

Police said M Ramachandran (27) and D Dharamdurai (25), both residents of Semmankuppam, near Chonnasavadi, confessed to the crime.

The youths had mixed poison in the water tank on October four which affected as many as 12 people of the village some of whom fainted.

The duo said they were protesting against the setting up of a PVC plant in Cuddalore District by a private company.

The accused also confessed to hurling a petrol bomb at the security personnel, guarding the site of the proposed plant, on October 19.
