Bellary, Karnataka, Oct 24 (UNI) A UK national was arrested on the charge of selling drugs to foreign visitors at the world heritage site of Hampi, today.

Police said that based on a tip-off, Kamalapur police raided a lodge in Hampi where Annie Derek (51) was staying and took him into custody. Police seized 400 gm of brown sugar from his possession.

During interrogation, Derek confessed that he bought the drug in Agra for his personal use and not for selling. However, police maintain that he was handing over the drug filled in a cigarette to other visitors, particularly foreigners.

Derek, who had married a woman from Bapatla town of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, has been visiting Hampi for the last 20 years.
