Renowned Scientist S G Nagalotimath dead

Belgaum, Oct 24 (UNI) Renowned scientist S G Nagalotimath died of pneumonia here this morning.

He was 66. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Dr Nagalotimath was instrumental in developing internationally acclaimed Belgaum Science Centre and Stones museum at Bijapur.

Besides bagging 12 national awards, including B C Roy and Hari Om awards, for his contribution to the field of pathology, he was also the recipient of 22 state awards including Rajyothsava and Chalukya civilian award.

Dr Nagalotimath had also served as the Karnataka State Vijnana Parishath President.

The last rites of the deceased would be held at Belgaum tomorrow at 0900 hrs, family sources said.

Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Home Minister M P Prakash were among the several leaders who paid their last respect to the departed soul.
