Jalandhar boys spank Mizo team in Nehru hockey

New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) Government High School, Harnamdaspura, Jalandhar trounced Thenzawal Higher Secondary School, Mizoram by a whopping 12-0 margin while GRM Senior Secondary Public School, Nangloi got the better of NCC Jalandhar 3-1 in 24th ONGC Nehru Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament here today.

The boys from Harnamdaspura showed little mercy for the opponents from Mizoram and scored six goals in each half to pound them 12-0.

For the winners, Harjinder Singh scored four goals including a hat-trick, while Prabhdeep Singh struck three. Jaswinder Singh struck a brace in the match and other goals came through Karanpal Singh, Satbir Singh and Gurminder Singh.

In the other match of the day, GRM Senior Secondary Public School, after hel 1-1 at half time, scored two second half goals to win the game against NCC Jalandhar.

For the winners, Ajay scored all three goals, while NCC Jalandhar reduced margin through Ashish Pal Sharma.
