Farmer commits suicide in Akola

Akola, Oct 24 (UNI) A debt ridden farmer Mr Baburao Baliram Koltake, a resident of village Aagar in Akola district has allegedly committed suicide by jumping in the Morna river here yesterday, police said.

Persistent failure of crops and pressure from private money lenders and banks forced him to take the extreme step, family sources said.

Another farmer, one Mr Rameshwar Ramrao Pofle, a resident of village Chinchala in Mangrul taluka, bordering Washim district had allegedly consumed poison on Oct 18 last. He was hospitalised since then. Unfortunately, yesterday he breathed his last, police and hospital sources said.

This deceased farmer too, was compelled to take the drastic step following constant failure of crops and increasing pressure from banks and private lenders, family sources said.
