CPI to resort to agitation on Nov 3 on price rise issue

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (UNI) Expressing concern over skyrocketing of the prices of essential commodities, the Communist Party of India(CPI) in Andhra Pradesh today announced a state-wide agitation on November three, demanding that the Congress Government take immediate steps to curb price rise and supply essential commodities through Public Distribution System(PDS).

The party activists would stage darnas in front of Government offices all over the State, CPI State Secretary K Narayana said in a statement here.

The Go Ms No 64 promulgated to curb black-marketing had no effect on black-marketeers, he alleged, lamenting that, while the farmers were unable to get a remunerative price for their produce, consumers were struggling due to soaring prices of essential commdities, including rice, pulses, edible oil and chillies.
