Patna, Oct 23 (UNI) For the first time, the Patna district administration has decided to install video cameras at almost all river banks of the state capital and adjoining areas to keep a close watch on devotees and workers for smooth celebration of Chhath festival.

Deputy Mayor Santosh Mehta said today that Rs 17 lakh had been sanctioned for sprucing up 76 'ghats'(river banks) and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, cleanliness drive had been launched at all 'ghats' here and adjoining areas on a war footing under the supervision of District Magistrate B Rajendra.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made surprise a inspection of all 'ghats' here on Sunday and pulled up the officials for slow pace of cleanliness drive.

''I have given necessary instructions to the officials and will visit the 'ghats' again to take stock of the arrangements,'' Mr Kumar said.
