Bansi Lal's Daughter-in-law urges PM to confer Bharat Ratan on him

Chandigarh, Oct 23 (UNI) Haryana Minister of State for Forests and Tourism, Mrs Kiran Choudhry has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to confer Bharat Ratna (posthumously) on her late father-in-law and former Chief Minister Bansi Lal.

Mrs Choudhry met the Prime Minister in New Delhi today to put forward her request for conferring the award on the great leader who had played a significant role in the progress of Haryana. She had already forwarded this request to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

She said that the state government had already constituted a Committee under the chairpersonship of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue, Mrs Promila Issar to recommend the name.
