12 hours N. C. Hills Bandh passed peacefully
Guwahati, Oct 23 (UNI) Life was crippled in the hills district following a 12-hour N C Hills bandh from this morning.
The bandh, called by various organisations, however, passed off peacefull.
The Autonomous State Demand Committee, Dimasa Students' Union, Dimasa Women Society and ASDC Mahila Sangathan called the bandh demanding CBI inquiry into the recent killing of 11 Railway personnel and staff near Manderdisa by unidentified extremists. They are also demanding restoration of peace and normalcy.
At Haflong, most government and semi-government offices remained closed.
Vehicles were off the roads. Commercial institutions and markets remained closed. However railway communication was not disrupted. No arrest has been made, police said.
