No slashing of pensions to Punjab police martyrs families: CM
Patiala, Oct 22 (UNI) The family pension of the 2280 officers and jawans of the Punjab Police, who laid down their lives in the fight against terrorists, would not be slashed after seven years as per the prescribed norms.
They would be entitled for full pensionery benefits, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh announced while addressing a function organised here yesterday on the occasion of 47th Police Commemoration Day in Police Lines.
Like wise, he also announced to enhance the salary of 2400 Special Police Officer's (SPOs) of Punjab Police from the existing daily sum of Rs 90 to rs 150.
On the occasion he placed a wreath at the memorial of martyrs. A troupe of PAP paid tributes to the martyrs for their glorious sacrifice by reversing their arms. A two minute silence was also observed in memory of the martyrs.
Capt Singh also announced a grant of Rs 17.84 lakh for the families of martyrs of the state police besides extending every possible help for Police Welfare Fund specially created for the welfare of the families of the martyrs.
Punjab DGP S S Virk was also present on the occasion.
