LPG crisis grips Mizoram, govt to take steps
Aizawl, Oct 20 (UNI) Mizoram Supplies department has once again reassured the people that it is making every effort to curb the prevailing gas crisis.
Mr K Lal Nghinglova, Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said here today said besides inadequate bulk supply, adulteration and uneven distribution were the major causes of cooking gas shortage in the state.
He said Borkhola and Mualkhang gas bottling plants of the state had not received their requirements for the past few months due to routine closure of Numaligarh refinery as well as low supply from Guwahati refineries.
The requirement of Borkhola is 3000 MT, that of Mualkhang is 1,10,000 cylinders per month, he added.
He also informed that the department had given a showcause notice to seven LPG black-marketeers in different localities and about 302 gas cylinders had been seized from them.
The department had also recovered 737 bags of diverted rice from different localities and blacklisted five vehicles in this connection.
'' To ensure equal distribution of LPG, the department has also set up several new distributor points and made some additional arrangements with the dealers in the state, '' Mr Nghinglova pointed out.
