Indian Noni can do wonders for HIV patients: HIL
Port Blair, Oct 20: Health India Labs today claimed that Indian Noni could do wonders for HIV patients in recovering weight and strengthening immune system of the body.
Indian Noni Health Enhancer, a food supplement, produced by Health India Labs, is predominantly formulated from Morinda Citrifolia and has a combination of high-quality health enhancing Indian herbs.
In this regard, research is being carried out by scientists of HIL in many parts of the country, which shows considerable improvement of weight and immune system in HIV patients, Indian NONI Research Foundation of Chennai Dr P I Peter told UNI today.
Dr Peter claimed that though it is not medically proved, HIL scientists were working round the clock to prove this aspect of Indian Noni, which is considered the best in world.
Noni's healing properties are widely recorded in the Ayurveda and Siddha medicinal texts of India. Noni is now researched in more than 30 universities in 10 countries and has earned more than 500 research articles.
''Noni supports the immune system, the circulatory system, the digestive system, the metabolic system, the tissues and cells of our body,'' the HIL chief added.
Dr Peter, a botanist, said the Noni juice was extracted from a South Indian fruit called by the same name. Scientists in the United States started research on it almost two decades ago.
''All over the US and Europe, people are using Noni juice as a health tonic and have benefited enormously. In India, our foundation started making the juice,'' informed Dr Peter.
Experts believe that the regular dosage of the juice can keep the heart problems, skin diseases, diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis away. It also act as a blood purifier.
To meet the growing demand of Noni, Health Indian Laboratory (HIL), has recently signed an agreement with 115 farmers of Tsunami- affected Andamans for its production and marketing of Noni.
The agreement has been signed for a period of ten years between HIL and farm producers of these remote archipelago, marking the first-ever public-private partnership in Agriculture sector in sylvan islands.
However, the Central Agricultural Research Institute (CARI) would extend research and quality oriented services to the farmers to enable them to have healthy seedling and quantity production.
HIL has an annual turn over of 80 crores, which would be doubled every year with the involvement of more farmers in its production.
He added that another processing plant would be inducted by HIL in April next year which will have five times more capacity.
''We are now producing 8,000 litres Noni per day and are sure to have 40,000 litres per day from next year,'' said Dr Peter.
Presently, commercial Noni cultivation is done in Karnataka, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
