India provides Rs 6,078,465 to a school in Nepal
Kathmandu, Oct 20: India has provided a grant assistance of Rs 6,078,465 for the construction of library building of Amar Singh Secondary School in Pokhara.
A memorandum of understanding was signed yesterday between the Embassy of India, the District Development Committee, Kaski and Shree Amar Singh Higher Secondary School, Ramghat, Pokhara regarding grant of Government of India, Indian embassy said in a press release here today.
A monitoring committee has been constituted for the project consisting of the Chairperson, school management committee, engineer, DDC Kaski and District Education Officer, Kaski to oversee the project and supervise construction and ensure proper utilisation of the grant assistance, the press statement said.
''The implementation of this project will go a long way in providing quality education to more than 2000 students of the area and conducive environment for better teaching and learning'' it said.
This is the second educational project being undertaken by Government of India in Kaski district under the India-Nepal economic cooperation programme.
The commitment of India to triple the development assistance and double the scholarship for Nepalese students to strengthen and diversify bilateral economic cooperation, following Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's visit to India in June 2006, the embassy said.
Currently the bilateral cooperation programme between the two countries is witnessing the realisation of 160 projects in education, health and infrastructure sector in 75 districts of Nepal with an outlay of Rs 2000 crores, the press release said.
